Sometimes it’s takes me a bit of time to finally pull together spaces in my home. The kids room has been no exception. Whether it is because I can’t make up my mind, or on the flip side, because have a very specific idea that needs special attention and time, or because mom is just too darn exhausted to make magic happen, the rooms in my home often linger on the edge of unfinished. And then every now and again something great comes along, such as these new Handmade Charlotte stencils, making my creative vision and life a whole lot easier.
When I saw this cloud stencil, at exactly the perfect size, I knew right away that I had found my solution to the kids room wall.
I quickly gathered some white Folk Art paint, a sponge roller, and some stencil adhesive, and went to work. And seriously in just a short afternoon our kids room went from sparse and unfinished to simply perfect.
The boys are over the moon about their new room as well and Little O was perfectly satisfied that he now had a room similar to Andy’s in Toy Story.
And I like how baby M’s little black rain cloud pillow pops out among all the other white clouds.
I also like how unifying and dare I say “spacious” these clouds make our little pack of sardines seem.
And as for the rest of the Handmade Charlotte stencils, well I’ve no doubt we’ll find some “aha” moments for them in no time. Thanks Rachel for the much needed inspiration!

Wow! Mom definitely made magic happen on this one. 🙂 You are so right, those clouds make the room look spacious and perfect. Maybe I can get motivated enough to finish my little man’s room now? Fingers crossed.
Lena

Mer, absolutely love the clouds on the wall. Any tips on how to make it look as neat and uniform as yours turned out?

Could you share the source of the rhino head? Thanks, the room is so fun!
molly klein
love the bedding. Do you remember where you got it? I have a boy and girl sharing a room and am struggling to make the space work. Your post about rooms lingering unfinished is so true in our household. Thanks for the inspiration!!
Merrilee
Thanks Molly. I got the bedding at Target years ago. But I’m sure you could find something similar out there today. good luck! xo Mer
Ariel
Love this! Could you tell me what gray paint you used? Thanks 🙂
Merrilee
thanks Ariel! The grey paint on the walls was there when i moved in so I don’t know what kind it is. I wish I could tell you as I love it too! xo Mer

Love this! I am ready to do the same with a tree stencil. I am a little intimidated by the placement process. How did you go about measuring, etc?
Merrilee
oh a tree sounds lovely! I might just pick a rough distance between trees and just measure and line it up each time. I was ok with a bit imperfection in the cloud placement so you just have to decide if you want it perfect or a bit loose. good luck!
Brianna
Hello there!! Terrific job! I do have one question – do you have any times on how to make it look so uniform?! For example the spacing and windowing of each cloud! Thank you and looking forward to a response!
Merrilee
Hi Brianna! Honestly I just eyeballed it but if you want to measure it out between each cloud I might suggest that as a good approach. And I did have to fold the stencil at the walls/windows. Good luck! xo Mer
Jess
this is so great. however, the stencil is no longer available. can you tell me the approximate size of the cloud? i think i will attempt to make my own 🙂
Merrilee
it’s roughly 4″x7″

I love this wall and have used it for some inspiration for my new nursery. Do you know what the base paint color is called? It looks similar to what I have on the walls already but I’m worried mine is too light to make the clouds pop!
Alyssa
I love this idea and I am featuring it on my website if you don’t mind.
miriam
Hi there!
Love this room and I want to copy the idea for my kiddos’. I would appreciate if you could please tell me how did you manage to place the clouds in so nice position. How can I do to make it look the same?
Thanks in advance!
Merrilee
honestly I just eyeballed it but you could measure it if you wanted. I just made sure it looked alright but if you really analyze it you’ll see that they aren’t perfectly even. Best of luck. xo Mer
